Poco Baby Hammock; First Impressions

Poco Baby Hammock; Our First Impressions - Alternative to baby crib, for night and naps, baby sleep solution preventing colic and wind, creating feeling of being in the womb

Yes! Baby has somewhere to sleep, finally, in the form of this beautiful hammock by Poco Baby which this weekend we put together; the first of many baby products to come I'm sure, and the start of our preparations to welcome the new arrival. Baby isn't here for a good month and a half yet (fingers crossed!), but I wanted to share our first impressions of the Poco Baby for those who may have never seen one before or who are looking for something besides the traditional bedside crib for their little ones and the benefits.

Nursery comes complete with one 'not-so-great-at-hiding' big brother..

So, why would we want to use a hammock over anything else? Hammocks are beneficial for babies as they create a feeling of being back in the womb due to the constant motion the hammock provides at the slightest of movement and the cradled feeling of being inside one. They're also proven to soothe and relieve symptoms of the dreaded colic due to baby lying in a slightly upright position and this is probably the number one reason new parents go searching for a crib alternative and come across the hammock as a new sleep solution.

Though Archie never suffered from severe colic as a baby, he still had digestion issues and I remember coming across baby hammocks at the time and almost buying one for him - anything to soothe his discomfort and for us all to get a better nights sleep! Thankfully, his symptoms improved after the newborn period had passed and we never got to try one out, so I was delighted to be offered the chance to use one this time round for baby #2. As new parents, we're always looking for the best sleep solution for our babies, and anything that creates a snug and safe environment is usually one that I found a newborn will feel most comfortable in (after all, they are squidged in our tummies for 9 months), so I can't wait to try our hammock out and see what baby #2 thinks!

We were impressed with how easy the Poco Baby was to assemble and how quickly we managed it (by we, I obviously mean Mr J, whilst I stood by and offered my non-expertise on building things); it's also alot sturdier than expected once put together and could easily hold a heavier baby (recommended use is up to 9 months). It also comes with a really handy travel bag so there's no need to buy an extra travel cot—simply disassemble, pack away and use for holidays or when away from the home. So far, the only thing I'd mention is that it is huge, so make sure you have plenty of room for somewhere to keep it.

The Poco Baby is tested and certified within the UK and approved for safety by the UK and European standard. With any product, you need to ensure you're using it correctly at all times. We can't wait to start using ours with baby #2 and if you're thinking of purchasing your own, you can visit Poco Baby Hammocks!

Disclosure; We were sent the Poco Baby hammock in exchange for an open and honest review; all opinions are 100% honest and what we actually think (pinky promise).
