Acres of Fun and Beautiful Cascades at Bowood House and Gardens

After a particularly traumatic morning (it involved human faeces, cream carpets and A's toes) and as the weather was forecast to be rainy & dull this Sunday, we decided what better way to enjoy it than to visit a predominantly outside park? Luckily, the weather cleared up as we arrived (and it was still pretty warm) and the three of us had a family day out at Bowood House & Gardens.

Tractor Ted's farm is a fairly recent addition and is good for the little one's. There are a few tractors they can scoot around a track on and plenty of farm animals to see. We saw baby sheep, bunnies and lots of chicks and then decided to head to the soft play area. Though A enjoyed himself, it was quite small and in a temporary structure so not that great. We didn't spend too long in there before deciding to head to the adventure park.
It seemed alot bigger when I was younger but it is still one of Bowood's best features by a mile. The huge swing boats (that A, Daddy and I could all swing in together), the floor trampoline and the outdoor ball pit are just some of the apparatus there. There's also a huge pirate ship that A loved running around in (thought he had to be accompanied at all times). Though there's alot that only the older kids can do (such as a huge death slide and high bridges) there's still plenty for the little ones too. There's also loads of green space do you could easily pitch up for the day, have a picnic, and let the kids go to town!

After a brief look around the house and gift shop, we decided to take a walk to the caves. Unfortunately, the gravel path isn't pushchair-friendly at all (unless you've got one with huge wheels) so we wish we had just carried A instead but we were glad we trekked down there because it is such a cool area for kids (older kids especially would appreciate the caves). We had loads of fun exploring and seeing the cascade was great, A was absolutely fascinated and it was as awesome as I remember it being when I was younger.

Though we did enjoy ourselves at Bowood, I'd definitely recommend visiting on a day when you're pretty much guaranteed nice weather and taking a picnic, with older kids you could literally spend the whole day at the adventure park bathing in the sun. Besides the adventure park and the caves/cascade, I was pretty underwhelmed that there wasn't more there but we still ended up having an enjoyable day (even though the weather was pretty dull!).

It does look like a beautiful place to visit. I adore your photos. Is it bad that I always get clothes envy of Archie? I love having a daughter, but I think boys clothes are so cute!!!! Thank you so much for linking to #whatevertheweather x
