The Cottage with the Waterfall — The Ordinary Moments #11

For as long as I can remember, my grandparents have lived at Waterfall Cottage and it's always been such a magical place to spend a childhood. It's even more beautiful than it looks in the photos and I had so many adventures in this garden; to see Archie enjoy it as much as I did is so enthralling.
There was nothing more normal to me than running up & down the path, dangling my legs over the bridge into the stream, watching the fish, and stretching my fingers out to touch the beautiful waterfall, and yet there's so much about it that is completely extraordinary too.

This weekend, my poor boy has come down with the dreaded chickenpox and these pictures were actually taken on day one of the spots; it's only been a few days but it already seems like so long ago now we're in the midst of such an awful illness. He's covered head to toe, not eating or drinking much and has had a really hard time, and all I want to do is make them disappear so we can go back to healthy smiles like these.

I saw a beautiful photo today of a pregnant Mother and her daughter (about A's age) having the hugest cuddle on a hospital bed saying goodbye to one another before they went through the induction process and brought a second baby into the world. It was so beautiful and heartbreaking and just captured the feeling I know I'll have at not only falling in love with another child but saying goodbye to a time where Archie was my only focus - in a few weeks, baby #2 will be here and as wonderful as that will be, it's also the end of a relationship between my only son and I and the beginning of a relationship all 3 of us will build together.
