'Time to make a big decision' {The Ordinary Moments 21}

For the entirety of my maternity leave, we've been thinking about my return to work and whether it would actually happen. Childcare for one was just about affordable but we thought once Archie had his free hours, there wouldn't be a problem, but because he needed to be in during the holidays, we've been paying full-price and it's bumped the bill up so much we're now struggling to afford nursery for the both of them. The only option we've had is to move Archie to term-time only (otherwise we'd be left with an extortionate Summer bill there's no way we could afford), and for me to quit work to be a stay-at-home Momma. *shocked face emoji*
NB. No one is more surprised than me that this is happening!
I've always envisioned being a SAHM but I also loved working and especially having some time away from the kiddies, knowing that they were being taken care of. On the other hand, I knew eventually I would have to leave once A goes to school (as it's too far away for me to make pick-up and drop-off) and I'm excited to push my freelance work further (I'm a graphic and web designer) now that my hands are tied and it's a decision that we had no choice but to make. It's a scary and exciting time and it's going to be really tough for a couple of years until the boys go to school, but I'm looking forward to seeing where things go from here!

Part of me is going to miss the adult conversation and being able to just sit down with a cuppa (that's not all I did at work, I swear), but the other half is glad I don't have to worry about how my breastfed, bottle-hating baby is going to cope and that at least I don't have to be dressed by 7am when I've been up every 2 hours through the night (yep, that's still happening). I think because we've been considering it for a while, I don't feel too shocked that the decision is now set in stone and I'm well aware it's going to be a difficult path for a while, but I feel lucky I get to experience being a SAHM (sort-of, still working freelance) whilst my littles are still just that. Wish me luck!
