"Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of their grandchildren" — The Ordinary Moments #8
I've always been close to my parents; we see each other most days and we live in the same street, so they spend alot of time with Archie and I. Mr J works most weekends so we end up gatecrashing and spending our days out with my Ma & Pa. It tends to surprise alot of people how close we all are, but I think my brother passing away at 17 has had alot to do with the bond we have. Though we obviously have extended family, it's always felt like the 3 of us since that dreadful day; because who else is there that can feel the same pain of losing that one particular person?
Sometimes we all drive each other crazy and we have our disagreements, but I tell them everything and since A came along, they've become a huge part of his life too. Archie absolutely adores his Nanny & Da-dad and it's that thought that comforts me when I think about leaving him to go to the hospital when baby #2 decides to arrive.
Life isn't really about a series of perfect events; as a family, we've been through so much tragedy, but we've also been through some amazing times and no one else helps keep me afloat on my tough days quite as well as my parents do.
Sadly, bad things happen that will never leave us. All we can hope is that there are those people around us who want nothing more than our happiness. My children will be so loved by their grandparents, but they'll also learn so many important life experiences from them, and we'll do everything we can to sprinkle a little bit of magic into their lives.
