Everything's changing | A day in the life
There was something so precious about this past Summer, the last before Archie started school and Martin a new job and phase in his working life that sees them both away from me more than I'd like to admit. Everything about our routine has changed, though it's not all bad as Archie now likes to interrupt Martin's 5:45am showers, the only time each day he gets to direct a small number of the questions he usually fires at me towards him instead, such as "Daddy, do we live in Spain?" and "Why is it Wednesday?"
This was one of our last days of normal, just before both of the above events occurred, and included a last-minute trip to the hairdressers before school on Monday (is it just me who doesn't realise how long their hair really is until they have it cut?) and our first ever visit to Wagamama's (leaving us a little underwhelmed but the boys are noodle-obsessed). It was also the first time in 6 months we'd reached for sweatshirts, jeans and cardigans as the weather has finally begun to turn.
I'm glad I recorded one of the last non-school holiday weekdays we all had together; now Archie has reached full day weeks and Martin is working all the hours, these days are going to be few and far between and I'll be savouring them even more than before. I also adore the outfits both boys are wearing in this post (those Mini Rodini mercies & Bobo bananas have been on my most wanted list for months) and though it's sad packing away the shorts and rompers, it's warm and familiar digging out the sweatshirts and bobble hats again, and we're so ready for Autumn.
