The #BiBS2017 and Us
Blogging awards season means alot of highs and lows for bloggers; the anticipation that we might possibly find ourselves nominated for an award is exciting, but then if we're not, does anyone read or notice our blog at all? It's difficult and I understand why some might not want to take part but I personally love the spark of hope that I could be nominated. This year has been different for me; after losing my way with blogging and finding myself snowed under with sponsored posts and reviews, I've taken a step back and started to focus on writing the posts and sharing the photographs I love instead.
I've decided to take the same approach to the awards this year. I want to take part without consistently asking for nominations, I want to keep sharing what I love to do in the hope that someone enjoys reading as much as I adore posting and feels they'd like to nominate this little blog, just because. I'll share the information on how to do so below, but I'm going to use this post as an excuse for you to get to know me and my family a little better; after all, I share alot about our lives, yet not much about our history or the things we love, so here goes—
I'm the 29 year old Mama & designer behind the colourful photographs & embarrassing anecdotes. I'm the one you'll be talking to if you decide to drop us an e-mail and I'm usually the one taking the photos. This blog is a labour of love, and boy do I love it. I never knew how much fun it would be to document my boy's lives, our lives and to join such a wonderful community of bloggers and parents.
I'm an only child after losing my brother 8 years ago; he had severe autism and learning difficulties and things were very difficult for us all as a family growing up. The devastation of his death brought my parents and I closer together and we spend alot of time together with Mr J working long hours. Fun fact: They only live 8 doors down from us, so are often around to help out with the boys.
Mr J and I met 10 years ago now and there's a rather large-ish age gap of 9.5 years between us, yet you probably wouldn't notice. He looks younger and I'm slightly more mature so we're sort of balanced somewhere in the middle of our actual ages. We plodded along for 7 years not doing alot and almost parted ways due to living 35 miles apart, until we finally started renting together almost 4 years ago and I fell pregnant with little A. We bought a house together whilst I was pregnant, finally got engaged a year later and just 9 months ago, baby Blue came along.
He's gradually gaining more confidence behind the camera (thanks to my constantly forcing him to take pictures of me with the boys) and I think he could even be starting to enjoy it (though he'd never admit that). He also has an older son from a previous relationship, Finners, who my boys follow everywhere and absolutely dote on when he comes to stay. Mr J and I are total opposites in almost every way and I think that's exactly why we've made it this far (though like all relationships, it hasn't been without it's turbulent times).
My wild child; Archie is confident, outgoing, active, loud and at times, quite challenging! He's the kid at playgroup jumping around & dancing whilst the others seem to happily await instruction (part of the reason I didn't attend many). He's 3 now and his birth was particularly special because it fell on that one day of the year that no one appears to want a birthday; yep, he may as well be Santa Claus. For us though, it's all the more magical and even more reason to celebrate.
His birth was fairly straightforward, yet took me longer to recover from (mentally) than his brothers. I look at him every day and ask myself where on earth my baby has gone; it's terrifying how quickly the first few years pass you by. He's very social and will natter on to anyone about anything and he's either an utter delight to be around or an absolute terror, there's no middle ground with him.
Ah, the littlest of the bunch and still a fairly new addition at 9 months old; Jesse Blue is a beautiful soul, happy & contented (but doesn't sleep). He's so different to his brother and I often think they'll balance each other out nicely, the wild child & the laidback kid. He's totally addicted to boob and is a sensitive little sausage, not happy unless he's around those he knows well.
He's already on the move, crawling, exploring and standing and I'm desperate for his first year to slow down. He was born last Summer after a fairly dramatic home turned hospital birth and is quite likely to be the final member of the clan (never say never, but birth has put me off just a bit).
You have to pop in your name and a couple of details but you only have to nominate for the categories you choose (you don't have to fill in the whole form).

You don't need to worry about your favourite blog post or my email, in fact all that's important is entering my blog name and URL. Thankyou so, so much for taking the time to care enough to nominate my little blog; photography is my specialty so I struggle with words to express how much it really means to me.
Did you know I'm a graphic designer too? If you're looking for help to brand your business or make your blog beautiful, check out my portfolio!
